Moderated by Jonathan Rauch, panelists included Angela Hawken, co-author of Marijuana Legalization: What Everyone Needs to Know (Oxford Univ Press, 2012); Troy Eid, former U.S. Attorney for Colorado (an opponent of Amendment 64); and Prof. Michael Greve, George Mason Univ. Law School.

2012 killings in drug enforcement in the U.S.

Phil Smith at Drug War Chronicle has published an analysis of the most thorough compilation of killings in the the U.S. in the course of drug enforcement in 2012 -- a total of 63, including eight law enforcement officers.These are not gang killings, robberies of drug houses, deaths from overdose or AIDS. These are either killings by law enforcement officers of some 55 civilians or killings of law enforcement officers.
